How To Do On Page SEO In Blogger
In this blog post, you’re going to learn how to do on page SEO in blogger.com.
Here are my 10 steps to do on page SEO for any site.
On Page SEO is all about what you do on your web page/site. So you are in control of what goes ‘into’ your website.
By performing proper on page SEO, you give yourself a good chance to rank high on Google SERP.
Would you like your website to rank high on Google? Then, read this…
Step Zero: Keywords
Even before you start implementing these steps, it’s important for you to choose one or two main keywords you’d want to rank for.
I call these keywords my primary and secondary keywords.
For this example, I’ve used the simple Google Auto-Suggestion tool to figure my primary keyword and that is ‘how to do on page seo in blogger.’
Step One: Title
We’re now ready to get started with Step One, and it is the title.
The title tag needs to be less than 55 characters, else there’d be ellipses.
Use your primary keyword as early in the title tag as possible.
Do not stuff keywords in your title. Make it readable.
Keep your title tag unique for each page/post.
To add title to the blogger.com page or post, here are the steps:
Enable Meta Tags in Settings
On the left navigation menu, go to Settings > Scroll down to the ‘Meta tags’ section on the right. Turn on the Meta tags.
Start A New Post
Back on the dashboard, click the ‘+ NEW POST’ button.
Ensure the Search Description is Visible
On the right side bar, make sure you see the search description. That’s where you’ll enter your meta description. If that option isn’t there, go back to the Settings and turn the Meta tags ‘On.’
Enter the Title now
After you confirm the presence of the ‘Search Description’ it’s time to write your Title. It’s straightforward.
Congratulations on completing Step One. On to Step Two.
Step Two: Meta Description
Now, we are going to use meta description to help search engines get a glimpse of what our content is about.
On the right side bar, click ‘Search Description’ drop down to enter your description.
Here are few pointers to get your meta description right:
Use your primary and secondary keywords
Ensure maximum of 150 characters
Avoid keyword stuffing. Make it readable.
Keep it unique.

Step Three: URL
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator.
On the right side bar, you’ll notice there’s a permalinks option. Expand that and choose a ‘Custom Permalink.’
Pointers for URL:
Use primary keyword
Enter URL in lower-case letters
Separate words with a hyphen
Try to keep it short

Just a couple of things to bear in mind.
Ensure clickable link to homepage via the logo
Clearly defined navigational menu
Hyperlinks distinguishable from the normal text

Step Five: Headings
Headings give hierarchy for your content.
There are 6 headings in HTML: H1 to H6.
H1 is your main heading and usually the biggest in font size.
H1 should be used only ONCE in a page/post.
For sub headings, use H2 tags. And for sub topics of those Sub headings use H3 tags.
I recommend using only these three: h1, h2 and h3 tags.
In this blog post, you’ll notice that the main heading: How to do on page SEO in Blogger is the H1 tag.
Step One: Title is an example of H2 tag.
Enable Meta Tags in Settings is an H3 tag.
Make sure you break your post/page down to logical steps and put them under structured headings. That’s it.
Now…
Step Six: NLP & LSI
Write your content as if you’re talking to a friend.
Google wants you to make your content conversational.
Gone are the days when Google used to focus too much on keywords.
Now, its powerful Machine Learning and AI algorithms do NLP.
What is NLP?
NLP is Natural Language Processing.
So, it’s not about how frequently you use the words that you’d want to rank for.
It is about context. Use relevant, related, contextual words as a part of your content.
LSI is Latent Semantic Indexing, and it’s a good idea to use synonyms and related words that can strengthen your content.
Step Seven: Internal & External Links
Google crawlers want to crawl and index all the relevant content on the internet. At least, as much as they can.
By using well-thought linking structure, your website stands a good chance to rank for a plethora of keywords.
Also, by linking to external sites, your content relevance and value goes up even further. Don’t be afraid to link other relevant external sites.
Step Eight: Anchor Text
Hyperlinks are the clickable text within your post/page content.
They are designed to take you from one page/post to another page/post within the website or to an external website.
By doing so, the search engines are able to crawl and index different pieces of content that can impact user experience positively.
These clickable links, if descriptive and relevant, help both your website visitors as well as search engine bots get clarity.
Use relevant, descriptive anchor text for the links you use in your content.
Step Nine: Image Alt Text
Use images and videos in your blog posts and pages.
They add variety, which is good for you because your website visitors will be more engaged with your content.
They’ll spend more time, which in turn can help you perform well on Google Search Results.
The search engines, currently, cannot determine what your image or video is about.
By using relevant, descriptive text as alt text/alternative text for images and videos, you’d help Google show your images and videos high on Google search results.

Step Ten: Sitemaps
A sitemap is like a directory of the pages and posts on your site.
Sitemaps help search engines crawl and index your site effectively.
There are two types of sitemaps:
HTML sitemap
XML sitemap
HTML sitemaps are meant to help users navigate your website with ease.
XML sitemaps give a roadmap for crawlers to crawl and index pages/posts.
XML Sitemaps are auto-generated on Blogger.com.
All you need to do is go to you blogger website, add a forward-slash (/) and then sitemap.xml. As simple as that.
That’s it.
Those are the ten steps on how to do on page SEO in blogger.com.
This is in no way comprehensive, but these basic steps can definitely help you rank on Google.
